Transition Plan
A New Chapter for Soul Surgeon
Vision
When I began this work, I had a vision of where it might lead, but I’ve been surprised at the impact we’ve made in such a short time. Blending the wisdom learned through education with that earned through life, I set out to offer a novel, humanistic approach to healing. Over the past six years, we’ve created something extraordinary:
Over 1,000 Journeys supported
Countless lives, family systems, relationships, and parent-child dynamics repaired and restored
Dozens of therapists supported in setting up their psychedelic practice
Dozens of keynotes, Q&A, podcasts, and articles produced
A safe and secure space to heal, The Sanctuary, serving 3 rooms, an outdoor Atelier, and community/group space.
Psychedelic therapies blended with sound and somatic therapies.
Education and training platforms developed and soon to be launched
Clinical workflows defined and refined
My original vision was to see multiple practitioners using the 3–4 working spaces at the Sanctuary, each holding different modalities. What I discovered instead is that many clients prefer intimate, private spaces for their deepest healing work. Privacy was paramount, and over the last 6 years, I’d estimate that about 60% of our work was supporting individuals, followed by couples, then groups.
The Sanctuary has been a pivotal part of this work and these stories. We created the Sanctuary out of the idea that we were inviting you home – a safe space to avoid medicalized environments and sterile, clinical grounds. A literal home designed for the purposes of this work, but also a reminder of the home that lives inside every one of us.
Pivot
The big news: The Sanctuary is moving.
Moving out of the Sanctuary is bittersweet. While I’m sad to let it go, it also represents a chance to cultivate an new intimate spot and reinvest my energy into service lines that have been waiting to come fully alive. I carry deep gratitude for all the memories created there, for the countless lives enriched, and for the ways the Sanctuary itself held us all.
Over the next few months, we’ll host our final sessions there before transitioning into a new chapter. I do not have a final “end” date, but if you’ve been on the fence or curious to work here before we transition out, please reach out.
Construction has already begun on a smaller cottage in Venice, just off Abbot Kinney. This will be our home base moving forward: our newly dedicated space for private sessions, couples work, and small group journeys. It will also still serve as a creative hub to meet, connect, and collaborate. The space will build on the containment, intimacy, and privacy that we have realized is so paramount to clients healing experiences.
And that’s not all. We’ll be expanding into new service lines that I believe will enrich and deepen this work:
Love, Purpose and Meaning: The Life Change Warrior Approach: Healing in private is essential, but my time in Uganda reminded me how much we also need connection. That’s why we’re developing an offering rooted in Love, Purpose and Meaning: The Life Change Warrior Approach. This course was originally created by my wife through her nonprofit, Life Change Warriors, to support under-resourced, need-based communities. Its aim is simple: to give people the language, practices, and emotional foundation to build a life of connection and meaning. We are now adapting this framework into a comprehensive educational format for our community at Soul Surgeon and academia. In small, intimate groups, participants will move through the curriculum while practicing together in community. Each gathering will weave education, interaction, and shared healing, with space to witness and be witnessed. The program will blend online modules, small group sessions, and in-person experiences designed to deepen integration and connection. The commitment and cost are still being finalized, and we’ll share details through our usual channels as they become available.
Educational Models: Over time, Soul Surgeon has developed a unique, humanistic approach. It’s time to share it more broadly. We’ll be rolling out digital programs for both clients and professionals, including training in our Philosophy of Care and practical facilitation tools. I also plan to relaunch the Principles and Practice Development Group I began a PRATI alumni for alumni, creating an online resource for providers and facilitators to connect and grow together.
Retreats: Not everyone thrives in a months-long program, so we plan to explore and offer retreat of various lengths. Retreats offer concentrated time for immersion, healing, and growth. We’re exploring 2-, 3-, 5-, and 7-day retreats, balancing depth with accessibility.
Couples Masterclass: Love has always been at the center of my work. From the lessons of my marriage to the humility of past failures, I’ve come to see love as the ultimate container. The Art of Co-Creation masterclass will bring together research, practice, and lived wisdom to help couples cultivate deeper intimacy, resilience, and joy.
This list isn’t final; it will grow and evolve as needs emerge.
Feedback
Your voice matters. These offerings exist for you, and they will only become stronger if they’re shaped with you.
I’ve created a short feedback form where you can share your thoughts, ideas, and needs. Please take a few minutes to let me know what resonates most, and what you’d like to see next. This form is for internal use and kept strictly confidential.
Closing
Transitions can be both challenging and exciting. This one certainly is for me. But as we shift from The Sanctuary to The Cottage, from holding space in one way to creating it in new forms, I see the same truth over and over again:
Healing, just like life, is never static. It grows, adapts, and transforms just like we do.
Thank you for being part of this journey and thank you for helping shape the next chapter of Soul Surgeon. We are deeply touched and appreciative of everyone who has trusted us on their healing journeys.
With love & light,
John Moos, MD
